In the very epicenter of a Houston, Texas neighborhood that has the highest concentration of historically significant structures in the region, The Banta House stands as an example of a building ahead of its time. Constructed of cast in place concrete in 1918, it was the first of its kind for a residential building along the Texas Gulf Coast region. DEK Studio has been involved in the ongoing rehabilitation of the structure and site, having managed the process of local historic designation, overseeing the replacement of historic exterior and interior elements, the restoration of original cast concrete elements, and structural repair.
