DEK STUDIO AT AIA HOUSTON 2020 VISIONS EXHIBITION AND PROGRAM
AUGUST 2020
Located at the Architecture Center Houston (ArCH), AIA Houston's 2020 Visions is a 28-part exhibit that addressed urban-design issues such as flooding and housing. As part of the Hubs portion of the exhibition, Stantec with a small collaboration from DEK Studio, showcased THE LILY PAD NETWORK.
THE LILY PAD NETWORK is a network of resilient neighborhood safe havens that float above the water, tethered to the community and to each other. They provide a framework to identify, prepare for, and proactively mitigate community shocks and stresses. Leading up to and following a disaster, these Lily Pads transform to support the full cycle of disaster preparation, response, and recovery. On sunny days, they act as hubs for advancing community education, cohesion, and social equity.
The exhibition is set to run through the summer before it hits the road to provide a blueprint for resilient and sustainable design to other AIA chapters and cities around the country.
